PhD Student

I am a Ph.D. candidate at the BMW Group and the University of Glasgow working on Visuo-Tactile Perception for Safe Human-Robot Interaction and Object-Robot Manipulation under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohsen Kaboli and Prof. Dr. Ravinder Dahiya.
Previously, I have worked as a robotics engineer at the Dynamic Interaction Control group at the Italian Institute of Technology, Genova Italy from September 2018 to April 2020. Here, I worked in a joint lab with Danieli Automation towards reducing risks and increasing safety for workers in the steel industry through human-robot collaboration. In particular, I was involved in developing and deploying robust vision-based perception algorithms for highly safety-critical applications.
I graduated from the European Masters on Advanced Robotics (EMARO+), an Erasmus Mundus Master’s program at Ecole Centrale de Nantes, France and University of Genova, Italy in September 2018. I worked on my Master's thesis on task planning for flexible human-robot collaboration frameworks in a manufacturing environment at the Schaeffler Group. I have been awarded the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Consortium Scholarship by the European Union for my master's program. I earned my bachelor's degree in engineering with highest distinctions in 2016 from the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, India. My research interests include human-robot interaction and multi-modal perception.
